MAHI IS GOOD FOR EVERYONE!
MĀ TE KATOA – HE PAINGA TE MAHI!
The Mana Taimahi programme recognises the positive effects of being employed. There is strong evidence that people in work are generally healthier and happier, with better long term social outcomes than those not in work.
Many people with health conditions want to keep working or go back to work sooner, but find it difficult to achieve. Mana Taimahi aims to identify what supports would help maintain employment or a return to work. Patients on the 12-month programme are provided with support, tools and knowledge to achieve their health goals and return, or stay in work.
The NHC has designed the programme in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development. Positive early outcomes has encouraged Mana Taimahi to be embraced by practices in West Auckland and Whanganui. See the Mana Taimahi case study
