Wahakura provides safe sleep for infants

The waha kura (flax bassinet) was developed as a culturally appropriate alternative to co-sleeping, to address high rates of Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI) in the Māori community, where 62% of SUDI deaths in Aotearoa occur.
