“Just be Māori. Māori all day, every day.” - Kiingi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII

Our Ohu Tikanga, a rōpū of kaimahi who carry whakapapa Māori within NHC, came together to wānanga, whakawhiti kōrero and share some laughter earlier this week. Like any whānau, we’ve had our challenges, but this hui reminded us of the strength we carry as kaimahi Māori in a Māori-led organisation.

As Moana Jackson once said, “the future will not be what others hand to us, but what we imagine and create for ourselves.” Guided by that whakaaro, this was a chance to look forward together, grounded in the lessons of the past, and to set a pathway forward for an Ohu that will grow in purpose and prosperity 💚💙

Breastfeeding isn’t always easy – but with the right tautoko, it can be a beautiful and empowering journey 🤱🏽

This kōrero comes from one of our own, a māmā and our Clinical Director, who reflects on her breastfeeding journey as a taonga. For her, it wasn’t just about kai. It was about giving her pēpi the best start in life 🌱
